After seeing so many posts and comments (Reddit, Twitter, and even out in the wild aka IRL) about why is protein (whey, meat, etc.) is so expensive, and how some people find it hard to afford enough to keep their muscle, I thought it was time to review one of the best choices of whey protein you can get, and I’m not even restricting that in terms of budget. It ranks in the top 5 quality whey protein supplements on Labdoor (an independent company that tests supplements, to report on purity, accuracy on consumer supplements) with a solid review/report from them.

Some flavors can be sub-par
Cost - 10
You simply can’t beat the price, and if you can, you probably shouldn’t take it. Hyperbole aside, the pricing is incredibly fair. For 5.5LBS, it’s around $50 US, and at the risk of sounding like a infomercial - it gets better… Myprotein as an interesting strategy where they have at least 1 weekly sale that’s 30-50% off. So that price comes down even more.
Taste - 8
The protein comes in a wide variety of flavors, from chocolate brownie to natural strawberry. Some of the flavors aren’t the best or strongest tasting, but they’re decent enough to enjoy. The stand-alone fruit flavors are always a safe bet and taste just as good as any other. I personally recommend cookies and cream, but it’s a flavor that has a hard time to get sick of, or just an easy go-to that’s natural strawberry which goes well with anything you decide to mix with.
Mixability - 9
Really surprised with this since I’ve had much pricer whey protein mixes that just had disappointing results, even after shaking the bottle for 1+ minutes. But this mix doesn’t clump up, and a few shakes is all it takes to get mixed well.
Effect - 9
Nothing out of the ordinary, and everything you’d expect when you protein up. Currently doing 2 to 2.5 scoops a day (at lunch, and post-workout), and the gains haven’t stopped, and if you’re worried about only having one post-workout protein source, crack an egg in it to help have a bit more variety with protein digesting speed. Or like what I said earlier, have another serving throughout a different time of the day.
Overall - 9
Simply put, the best bang for your buck. From a well-respected company that makes a well-trusted product, this whey protein supplement is what you need if you’re looking for something that’s simply pure, and easy on the wallet - or even if you’re just exclusively looking for a pure protein powder with no budget, this is a great option - and especially if you’re looking for something low in sugar and carbs.
What about Myprotein Impact Whey Protein?
This review pretty much fits for it as well. The main difference is between the two is that isolate is more of a refined/processed whey, which results in a slightly higher price, but more purity and easier to digest.
